Why so much lag ? ( JUST guild wars )
Ever since the last update ( 04/12 ) I have been getting ridiculously high ping. THe game loads and runs just fine, but with a ping on average of 2000 ( only 50 before the update ) All the actions I take lag behind my commands for about 3 seconds, Causing my characters to jerk around ( teleport everywhere ) ...making PvP matches almost unplayable.
I have no third party programs. I have checked for spyware/adware/viruses with multiple programs with only a few bad cookies returned. I am not running P2P. I am not running anything else that takes up bandwidth. Trust me, Im not a noob at this. Basically all the troubleshooting steps on my end have been done.
To double check this, I decided to run other online games. Starcraft, Counter strike source, and team fortress all ran flawlessly. With only 30ping average on a CS: source server that had over 40 people playing.
The only game that has this problem is guild wars. Im pretty much flat out stumped on this. Did Anet update their netcode without telling us during the last update, or is something else going on here ?
Im using a 6mb Dsl line, so their is no reason I should be getting this lag.

See your little ping orb at the bottom right? Get into the game, and tell me if it's just a plain coloured circle or if it has a little lightning bolt in it. Send me a PM with your answer because I likely won't check this thread again. I have a strong idea of what your problem may be.

Sorry I forgot to include that.
Its an average. its either Red with a Bolt, Red, Oarnge, and rarely green. Most of the time its oarnge with an average of 300 and spikes to red ( no lightning bolt, rarely do bolts show up ) with 5000 ping. It may or may not fall back down. Its too inconsistent to tell. Thats why I originally just said average ~ 2000.

Today around 5pm-2am i got really bad lag spikes in Fow, im sure these were server side because the whole party was suffering them and not just me.
have a look around the other Threads that have been created because of Lag Issues since the last update, do some of the things that have been mentioned there (except system restore) then if your suffering this lag, contact Anet and ask if they have been having problems with server side lag.
Also - Are you trying to play on the European Servers When your connection is based in America ?

go to start>run then type in "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -image and press enter. This will download all the guild wars files, it will take a while to do to begin with (30,000 files ftl!) but it should help with lag a little bit. Also try defragging your hard drive and re installing the GW client.

Ok, let's have this discussion over in this thread topic and specify the type of lag, continuous or in spikes, etc.
I am having these lag snags as well, presumably related to the audio update.
